Gunmen open fire on liquor stores in Iraq, 11 dead

BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi police and hospital officials say at least 11 people have been killed when gunmen opened fire on a row of liquor stores in Baghdad.

The officials say the gunmen were in four cars that stopped in the area while they attacked shortly after sunset.

The officials confirmed the death toll on condition of anonymity because they aren't authorized to speak to the media. They also say five people were wounded.

Nobody claimed responsibility, although Islamic extremists have frequently targeted liquor stores in Iraq.
